Super Typhoon Haiyan may be the strongest typhoon ever recorded, with record-setting wind speeds up to 195 mph and gusts of up to 235 mph. The category 5 typhoon may have taken as many as 10,000 lives. As of Tuesday authorities have counted 1,774 but state that this is only a fraction of the total dead. Authorities also estimate that 9.7 million people have been affected by the disaster. Zakat Foundation of America (ZF) has monitored the situation since the wake of the storm. ZF has coordinated relief efforts inside the Philippines and has dispatched a ZF leadership envoy from the United States to supervise and assess the long-term needs of the typhoon victims of the Philippines. To help ZF provide immediate assistance, sponsor a food package to families in need. Food packages contain rice, sardines, vegetable, canned food, and water.
